I'm not a huge fan of Facebook. It seems to have gotten a little out of hand lately in my opinion. In fact the last bit that irked me was a friend that would "tag" my wife and I at places that we were at together. I was swift to change my privacy settings to disallow that. I think that it's truly no business of anyone else to know where I am at or who I am with unless I explicitly want them to know. Broadcasting it to the world is a little over the top.
I once thought facebook was a nice way to keep in contact with distant acquaintances. It has seemed to morph into something entirely different though.
Here we are, we tweet our short thoughts, and paste so many pictures and status updates on facebook. What does it stem from I wonder? Is it our need to feel accepted, to show everyone we are doing well, and compare our long lists of facebook friends? Is it our self grandeur that makes us think every thought must be shared, like it is some great pearl of wisdom that everyone must see?
Here is a random picture of my dog!
Of course, I say all this while I type my thoughts on this blog and post random pictures of my pet. I'm guilty of the very acts to which I am complaining about. I'd like to think this blog is more for myself rather than anyone else, but I can't deny glee I might feel if any of my posts generated any type of conversation. So it goes to show, I am not above the fray.
How will humans of the future see us? Will they rise above it? I bet one day we will wake up and realize that we can enjoy more of life if we don't stop to chronicle it. I hope one day my grandchildren will find this blog, and gain some insights to where we went wrong.
